Tips on choosing between rubber or neoprene fishing waders

There are three types of fly fishing waders, rubber, neoprene, and most recently gortex. Each has its own strengths and weaknesses but today we will be talking about neoprene and rubber. The problem with rubber waders is that the quality can some times be questionable, That is not to say there isn't high quality ones out there. Some rubber waders will come without any insulation or the quality or the rubber can be less then perfect. Its like the old saying "you get what you pay for"

Neoprene waders on the other hand tend to be a bit better then rubber ones in general. Since neoprene is a more expensive synthetic materail, it tends to be used on more higher end waders. Its also lasts longer is more durable and some will tell you more comfortable if you ask me. Neoprene waders almost always come insulated with cotton or the like. Really it all comes down to the fishermens needs. People that go fly fishing once or twice a year whould be better suited to rubber waders, where as an advid weekly fishermen should invest in a good pair of neoprene waders.
